Scott #617– #619 – Mint - Curated 1925 US Lexington–Concord Sesquicentennial Commemorative Set

This historic curated trio of mint 1925 U.S. commemorative postage stamps (Scott #617–619) was issued for the 150th anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and Concord — the first engagements of the American Revolution. Engraved by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing and released April 4, 1925, these stamps honor the courage, sacrifice, and spirit that marked the birth of American independence.

Each design represents a defining moment from the opening of the Revolution:

Scott #617 – 1¢ Deep Green “Washington at Cambridge”
Depicts General George Washington assuming command of the Continental Army on Cambridge Common in 1775, symbolizing the unification of the colonies under a single cause.

Scott #618 – 2¢ Carmine Rose “Birth of Liberty”
After Henry Sandham’s painting The Dawn of Liberty, this scene shows the citizen-soldiers at Lexington Green on April 19, 1775 — the moment the “shot heard ’round the world” was fired.

Scott #619 – 5¢ Dark Blue “The Minute Man”
Features Daniel Chester French's famous Minuteman statue at Concord, a tribute to those who stood ready to defend their homes and freedom.
